Have you ever wanted something so bad that you would do anything to get it? How often do you just let your mind wander and actually imagine a life you would love living (assuming of course you haven’t done that already)?

If I don’t have a goal I am actively pursueing, something is missing in my life. If you’re reading this, I’m going to guess you are alot like me.

You love dreaming.

You love using your imagination.

YOU are the person in your group of friends or your inner circle that has wild dreams.

You’re the person people wish they could be.

You’ve accomplished some pretty amazing things in life, but you know that’s the tip of the iceberg.

You, like me, are capable of so much more! You have only begun living your life.

Now it’s time to take an active interest in creating your reality. And I’m going to help you do it through things I’m studying and practicing myself! Today’s topic is on how to set and accomplish goals in 4 easy steps!

DESIRE

When I was 7 years old, I knew I wanted to travel the world more than anything.

  • At 33, I’ve been to Germany, Afghanistan, Israel, Krygyzstan, Czech, France, New Zealand, England, Austrailia,                Antarctica, Italy, and Austria.

When I was in college, I knew I wanted to go to Germany. Other people my age were already in long term relationships talking about getting married or having kids. I wanted to see the world. I wanted more than what society said I had to.

  • I ended up living in Germany for 7 years and worked in Antarctica for 3 months.

When I moved back to America, after having lived in Germany for 7 years, I have a BURNING DESIRE to do something more with my life than an 8 to 5 job just to look forward to retirement in 30 years.

  • I’m 100% capable of this and working on making this my reality, like I achieved so many other of my goals without ev       even realizing how!

When I look back at any goal or dream I had that I accomplished, they have one thing in common. I had an insatiable burning desire inside of me where failure just wasn’t an option.

DESIRE is one of Napoleon Hill’s 13 principles in Think and Grow Rich. I absolutely recommend this book, it’s the first book I read in the personal development field and I continually study it! Bear in mind it was written in 1937, so you’ll immediately notice the language is written differently, but the principles are timeless!

He listed out the 6 steps to take to strengthen your desire:

  1. Fix in your mind exactly what it is that you want.
  2. If it’s money you desire, determine what you intend to do for it.
  3. Establish a definite date in which you wish to have your goal achieved.
  4. Create a plan and start taking action
  5. Write out a goal statement
  6. Read your goal statement 2x a day, out loud

IMAGINATION

When we were kids, it was ok to daydream and use our imagination. But as we get older, it’s like we’re supposed to stop being so creative and focus on studying to get a formal education to end up going to an 8 to 5 job to only do what we’re told.

I work with people who are very dedicated and great at their job! But when it comes to dreaming about what they want in life, all I hear are crickets.

It makes me sad. I NEVER want to stop dreaming or having goals. I’m the person (and perhaps you too) who has an extremely vivid imagination on how I want my life to be!

I see myself traveling the world working from my laptop, drinking coffee on a train in Europe.

I see myself with having enough money to be financially free. I am driving around in my new black convertible BMW on an open road.

I am envisioning sponsoring a child in Africa and giving my time and money to local orphanages so they can have a better life.

Use your imagination to help shape your desire. You give it life when you daydream.

“The creative imagination…functions ONLY when the conscious mind is vibrating at an exceedingly rapid rate, as for example, when the conscious mind is stimulated through the emotion of a strong desire.”

When your desire is strong desire and you build the image in your mind, you unlock your creativity to produce the ideas and resources you need to make it a reality in physical form.

NEVER STOP using your imagination!

AUTO SUGGESTION

So, now you know what you want.

You have a clear vision and enjoy imagining the details!

You might even start formulating a plan to get there.

So what’s holding you back?

9 times out of 10, you are the only person in your way of getting what you want.

When determining your goal or dream, did you pick something that is within your comfort zone and you already know how to get it? Or did you truly allow yourself to GO BIG, so big that you have no idea how you’re going to pull it off?

If it’s the latter, chances are you are going to run into some doubts about yourself.

I’ll never be able to make that much money!

I see other people traveling the world and making it work, but that isn’t the way life is for me. 

Oh, she is so confident and great in front of a camera, I’m way to shy to start a business.

The amount of faith you have in yourself or your ability to reach your goal directly correlates to your success in actually achieving it.

Positive Affirmations

Napoleon Hill defines auto suggestion as “self-suggestion.” There is a strong theory that positive self talk improves self confidence, self image and self-esteem levels. When these are heightened, we feel more empowered to create and take action.

I have 8 affirmations taped to my mirror and I say them while looking at myself. But there’s a catch, you can’t just say them. You have to say them with emotion and faith.

INTUITION

There is a sixth sense and it’s known as intuition.

Have you ever had a gut feeling about the character of another person and later turned out to be right? Have you ever known who was on the other end of the ringing phone before answering (looking at caller ID doesn’t count)? Have you ever randomly thought about someone only to receive a message from them the next day?!

Those gut feelings, those times of just knowing is your intuition at work. The more we pay attnetion to this, the more prevalent it will become in our everyday life.

There is an energetic life source all around us. Some religions call it God, some call it the Universe, others call it Infinite Intelligence. Whatever you want to call it, this is where those hunches and whisps of inspiration come from.

I can write an entire post on Intuition alone. In fact, I will.

Start paying attention to those hunches you have. Listen to them and see what they have to say.

This is how we tap into our creative mind and come up with ideas. This is how the plan is presented to us in reaching our goals!

Don’t worry if this seems too simple to actually work or think that you need a full understanding of how it works to be able to start doing this! Once you start studying this, you’ll never want to stop. You’ll be a student for life!
