Popular Foods That Start With E
Eggplants are one of the most popular vegetables in the world. It has become ones of my favorites over the years! They are found everywhere from the Middle East to the Mediterranean, India, Europe, North America, and China.
The eggplant is a member of the nightshade family which includes tomatoes, peppers and potatoes. It is believed that these plants originated in India, before spreading throughout other parts of Earth by way of trade routes.
The eggplant can be purple, white or green depending on where it was grown and how ripe it is when harvested. There may also be some browning on its skin due to oxidation caused by contact with air or sunlight.
There are so many benefits to eating eggplant!
- It’s high in fiber, which helps boost satiety and can improve digestive health
- Eggplants also contain antioxidants like nasunin, which protect the lipid (fat) membranes of brain cells and reduce age-related memory loss
Eggs are a food consisting of the egg white, typically called albumen, and the egg yolk. The most commonly eaten eggs are chicken eggs, although duck eggs are quite delicious as well!
Eggs have many health benefits that include being an inexpensive source of high-quality protein with all nine essential amino acids. They are perfect for vegetarians or people who cannot afford meat products. Eggs also contain Vitamin D, choline (important for brain development), riboflavin (B2), selenium and phosphorus. They are very good sources of lutein and zeaxanthin too which can help prevent macular degeneration in older adults.
Eggs also contain high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol, the good kind of cholesterol! The benefits of HDL is that is helps get rid of the bad cholesterol in your body!
I always recommend choosing eggs that come from hens which have been pasture raised or cage free. They are allowed a better diet, movement, and sunshine. That positive energy transfers over to your body! Not to mention additional vitamins and minerals!
Edamame is a type of soybean that has been boiled or steamed. It can be eaten as a snack, cooked with other ingredients in dishes such as miso soup and added to salads for protein.
It comes from Japan where they have been cultivating it traditionally since the 18th century.
They also contain isoflavones, protein (all nine essential amino acids), fiber and good amounts of vitamins A, B, C & E.
Edamame are generally found in the frozen food section at grocery stores. They are sold shelled or still in the pods, but both forms need to go through heat processing to be eaten safely so it’s important they are cooked before you eat them.
If you want to try cooking with edamame yourself, start by sautéing some garlic and olive oil together. Then toss in your pre-cooked shelled beans, along with some salt and pepper to taste. Edamame makes a great appetizer that everyone will enjoy!
Escarole is a type of lettuce that has broad, curly leaves. It can be eaten raw or cooked and it’s good for you too! Escarole is high in vitamin K and beta carotene. It also contains folate, potassium and calcium which are all essential nutrients for the body.
Escarole is from the Mediterranean region and has a slightly bitter taste. It can be used in salads, soups or as a side dish. Escarole is a great addition to any healthy diet.
Canistel Fruit (Egg Fruit)
The Canistel fruit (also known as the eggfruit) is a type of edible fruit that grows in tropical areas like South Asia, Indonesia and Jamaica. The canistel has an oval shape with green or yellow skin, depending on the variety. It also has white flesh inside which contains large seeds. The flavor of the canistel varies between sweet-and-sour to tart.
The health benefits associated with eating canistels are numerous!
- The skin contains beta-carotene, which is associated with preventing cataracts in older adults
- The high fiber content helps promote healthy digestion
- Promotes heart health
- Can help decrease high blood pressure
Etrog is a citrus fruit that grows in Israel. It is shaped like a lemon, but has a thick rind and green skin. The inside of the etrog is filled with seeds which are often removed before eating it. Etrogs have an intense aroma and sweet taste that can be compared to the smell of oranges combined with honey or flowers.
They contain high amounts of Vitamin C as well as many other important nutrients for good health such as potassium, magnesium, calcium, phosphorus and iron.

Earl Grey Tea
Earl Grey Tea is a black tea that has been flavored with the oil of bergamot. The Earl in question, Charles Grey, was Prime Minister of Great Britain in 1830 to 1834 when he received a gift from a Chinese mandarin tea master. That’s right, contrary to popular belief, earl grey tea is originally a Chinese invention, not English!
Earl Grey Tea is typically enjoyed with milk and sugar but can also be served with lemon or honey. It has a deep amber color and a sweet, citrusy taste that is unique to bergamot. The tea leaf shape is long and twisted, and the aroma is fragrant and refreshing. Earl Grey Tea is available in most supermarkets and online retailers.
Health benefits of Earl Grey Tea include:
- improved digestion, circulation and cognitive function
- It is also a great detoxifier and helps the body get rid of harmful toxins
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Extra virgin olive oil is obtained from olives. It is the healthiest type of cooking oil, mainly because it has a low level of saturated fat and high levels of monounsaturated fats (the good kind). Extra virgin olive oil does not contain any trans-fats.
It also contains antioxidants which help prevent cancer, heart disease and other illnesses. Extra virgin olive oil is also rich in vitamin E, which helps with cell function and keeps your skin healthy. And lastly, some studies say that extra virgin olive oils may have anti-aging properties!
The English muffin is a type of leavened bread that originated in America in 1894, by a British immigrant.
The muffin is round with a depression on top, which can be filled with butter or cream cheese. The color ranges from light brown to golden-brown when cooked, while the taste varies depending on what ingredients are used in its preparation, for example, blueberries will give it a sweet flavor.
English muffins have been found to be low in calories and high in fiber as well as being rich sources of calcium and iron. They also contain no cholesterol at all!

Egg noodles are a type of pasta that are typically made from eggs, water, wheat flour and salt. They are most commonly found in Asian cuisine
Egg noodles have a chewy texture and firmness when cooked properly. They come in many shapes with round being the most common shape. The color is typically white or yellowish with some darker spots on it if they were boiled before cooking them or added to it during cooking process for flavor purposes. These noodles taste savory due to the egg content which makes them an excellent choice for soups, salads, stir-fries and more!
Estragon is a perennial herb that has been used for centuries in Eastern and Western cooking. Their leaves have a distinctive anise flavor and aroma, which complements many dishes!
Estragon is considered a superfood because it contains high amounts of iron that boost energy levels without causing debilitating side effects. The herb has also been shown to reduce nausea associated with morning sickness, cancer treatment and motion sickness.
The English walnut is a type of nut that has the scientific name Juglans regia. It is also known as Persian Walnut, Indian Walnut, or simply “walnut.” The English walnut grows on large trees that can grow to heights of up to 150 feet tall and live for more than 200 years.
The fruit itself starts off green like other nuts but will eventually turn brown when it ripens. The taste varies depending on where it grew; some are sweeter while others are dryer with an earthy flavor. Generally speaking, they have a rich taste which makes them perfect for cooking or eating just by themselves! They’re also loaded with healthy fats and antioxidants.
Edam Cheese is a cheese that originates from the Netherlands. It has been made since at least the 14th century, and it’s still produced there today. The color of Edam Cheese can range from light yellow to deep orange, depending on how long it’s matured for. It has a mild flavor with some saltiness as well as hints of nutty flavors coming through. Edam Cheese is an excellent source of calcium and protein, making it a perfect snack or addition to meals!
Earth nuts are not really nuts, they are seeds. They grow on the ground like pecans or almonds and can be eaten raw or roasted. Earth Nuts taste like a cross between an almond and a peanut. This is because they come from the same family of plants as almonds and peanuts, but earth nuts have their own unique flavor which is why many people prefer them over other types of nut.

- Loads of omega-3 fatty acids (the good kind of fat)
- Fiber content helps keep you feeling full
